This session explores the unique challenges women face in agriculture, balancing farm life with other duties, such as childcare or off-farm employment. 

Our Panelists

Dr. Hannah Budge is a rural sociologist specializing in gender and agriculture, based in the Shetland Islands; former Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar at The Ohio State University, with research focused on women’s experiences and barriers in farming communities.
Natasha Stein is co-owner of Stein Farms and Boulder Farm in Le Roy, NY, managing 1800 cows and 3400 acres with her family, previously share-milking in New Zealand.
Laura Biasillo is a agricultural economic development specialist at CCE Broome County, NY, with nearly 20 years of experience supporting farmers and facilitating Annie’s Project for women in agriculture.
Dr. Sheila Marshman is a tenured professor at SUNY Morrisville, agribusiness expert, and farm business consultant for NY FarmNet, with extensive experience in curriculum development and agricultural leadership.
